At a demonstration held Monday at the House of Assembly complex in Lagos, members of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, called for the immediate dismissal of Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the state chairman of the party.

With signs reading “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Demand New Leadership,” the protesters, who were allegedly selected from the 57 Local Council Development Areas, or LCDAs, throughout the state, gathered at the Assembly building in Alausa, Ikeja.

Ahead of future political events, the demonstrators expressed their displeasure with the current leadership and demanded a reorganization of the state party hierarchy.

To keep the demonstration peaceful and to avoid any escalation into violence or disturbance of public order, a significant police presence was seen at the Assembly.

Neither the APC state executive nor the state Assembly leadership had formally addressed the protest as of the time this report was filed.
