Mr Obi recalled his past contributions to the school, including the construction of a female hostel during his tenure as governor, which provided a safe and conducive learning environment for female students. “Today, I laid the foundation of the boys’ hostel and continued my commitment to the school by donating N25 million,” he said.

The former governor emphasised the importance of investing in education, stating that it is “the most productive investment and foundation of progress which any country can make.” He added that such investment is crucial for pulling people out of poverty and promoting peace and development. “We must continue to support our health and educational institutions and poverty alleviation if we are to build a strong and sustainable nation for our future leaders,” Mr Obi stressed.

This donation is part of Mr Obi’s ongoing efforts to support educational institutions. Recently, he donated N50 million to his alma mater, Christ the King College, Onitsha, for infrastructural development. He has also made donations to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital and the University of Calabar, demonstrating his commitment to improving the quality of education in the region.
