Popular TikTok content creator Peller has voiced frustration over what he described as an overwhelming tax demand allegedly imposed by the Lagos State Government.

During a recent livestream with musician Peruzzi, Peller revealed that the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service issued him a tax bill amounting to N36 million.

“Taskforce said I should pay N36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” he lamented.

In response, Peruzzi questioned Peller’s tax compliance, reminding him of the legal obligation for all Nigerians to pay taxes. “Why haven’t you paid your taxes? Do you know you’re supposed to pay tax as a Nigerian? Do you know how much I pay as tax? I won’t mention it here but it’s more than the tax bill they gave you,” he said, urging him to resolve the matter to avoid potential legal consequences.

Peller, however, argued that the amount was excessive, pointing out that the government had never supported him, even during his TikTok livestreams.

He further claimed that the tax scrutiny began after he openly displayed his lifestyle and shared details of his income from TikTok.

Although Peruzzi advised him to request an extension to manage the payment, Peller maintained that his earnings come solely from online platforms, not from within Nigeria.
