Representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were notably missing at numerous polling stations during Saturday’s by-election held in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Reports from various voting centers, including Oluku Primary School, Owina Primary School, and Eronseyi Primary School, indicated that only the All Progressives Congress (APC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) had polling agents present to oversee the exercise.
In response, Mr. Tony Azeigbemi, the Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in the state, refuted the claims, stating that the party had deployed its agents for the election.
However, he emphasized that “not having agents will not affect the party’s performance.”
“We have polling agents for the election. After all, Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023, didn’t have agents in most of the polling units, yet he won in those units,” Azeigbemi said.
