The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has called on Christians to actively engage in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its chairman, Rev. Yakubu Pam, the association stressed that voter registration is the “gateway to participating in the elections and having a say in who leads the country at all levels.
“As responsible citizens and followers of Christ, we have a moral and civic duty to contribute meaningfully to the future of our nation,” the statement read. “One of the most effective ways to do this is through active participation in the democratic process, beginning with voter registration.”
Rev. Pam encouraged Christians who have yet to register, as well as those who have moved since the last election, to seize the opportunity presented by the ongoing registration exercise.
This appeal aligns with INEC’s efforts to increase awareness of the CVR process and remind all eligible Nigerians that registering and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are vital steps to guarantee widespread involvement in the 2027 elections.
