The Alliance for Youth Nigeria has empowered over 25,000 young Nigerians with jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities through skills training, marking four years of intervention. Founded by Nestlé Nigeria, Jobberman Nigeria, Big Bottling Company, the United Nations Global Compact Network Nigeria, and U-Connect HR Limited, the Alliance is supported by key stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Youth, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, and Activate Success International.

The partnership aims to equip 250,000 young Nigerians with employability and entrepreneurial skills by 2030. Recently, 585 youths participated in the Alliance’s flagship vocational skills training programme in Jos, acquiring practical skills in beauty care, video editing, solar panel installation, and web design. High performers received start-up kits and seed capital to apply their new skills
“As a proud member of the Alliance for Youth Nigeria, Nestlé Nigeria is committed to empowering young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive,” said Shakiru Lawal, Country Human Resource Manager at Nestlé Nigeria. “Together with other partners, we are building careers and nurturing the next generation of leaders who will shape a better future for our nation.”
Stephanie Iwunze, representing the United Nations Global Compact Network Nigeria, emphasised the global importance of youth development, noting that “investment in skills is critical as technological advancements reshape the global workforce.”
The government has also expressed support for the initiative. “Youth make up a vital segment of Nigeria’s population, and investing in their skills is essential for national development,” said Deborah Pitmang, Zonal Coordinator at the Federal Ministry of Youth. “The higher the skills, the higher the gains.”
Olamide Adeyeye, Country Head of Programmes at Jobberman Nigeria, highlighted the socioeconomic significance of the initiative, stressing that “meaningful youth development is critical for Nigeria’s transformation.”
