As the party gets ready for its national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa State and chairman of the PDP National Convention Committee, has stated that the party’s unity is more significant than interpersonal ties.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Fintiri denied attempts by Nyesom Wike and his associates to influence the process, saying that no party would be allowed to disrupt the exercise.

“I will not place personal relationships above this party. We cannot continue dragging our issues to the media; it is too embarrassing. True party men resolve disputes within, not outside. We will not allow indiscipline or blackmail to derail this process.”

He gave party members his word that the convention committee would conduct an open, legitimate election in which every candidate would have an equal chance to run.

In accordance with the democratic traditions of the PDP, he said, candidates are required to purchase forms, submit their nominations, and meet with delegates.

“The PDP secretariat for the convention is fully operational, and we are working to ensure a smooth and credible process,” Fintiri explained.

He cautioned against self-serving demands and urged members to prioritize the party’s overall interests over individual goals.

In spite of internal conflicts, Fintiri said he was confident that the next convention would show the PDP’s tenacity and willingness to regain national leadership.
