The Taraba State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget exceeding N128 billion for the 2025 financial year.

This approval came after both the first and second readings of the appropriation bill, which was presented to the legislature by Governor Agbu Kefas.

Lawmakers explained that the funding will be sourced from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund and is intended to cover key areas that were not included in the original 2025 budget.

Governor Kefas noted that the supplementary budget is aimed at boosting critical sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and security. He further revealed that the State Executive Council had authorized an additional N14 billion to meet specific financial demands.

Majority Leader Jethro Yakubu Zikengyu raised a point of order that facilitated the bill’s advancement to its second reading.

Following this, Speaker John Kizito Bonzena assigned the bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for more detailed consideration.

Separately, the Taraba State Emblem Establishment Bill also went through its initial reading and was directed to the Rules and Business Committee for further evaluation.
