Reactions have poured in following the moment when Hilda Baci’s jollof rice pot collapsed during her latest attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

The Nigerian chef was aiming to set a new record for the largest pot of jollof rice on Friday, September 12, during an event held in Lagos State.

However, the event took an unexpected turn when the enormous pot fell apart while being lifted for weighing.

Weighing the pot is a critical part of the record verification process, as it confirms the total volume cooked. To handle the massive 22,619-litre pot, a crane was brought in to hoist it along with the rice inside.

But during the lift, the pot buckled under its own weight, prompting the crane operator to immediately stop in order to prevent further damage.

The mishap, which occurred Friday night, has left uncertainty hanging over the record submission, as the final weight is a key requirement for Guinness World Records certification.

Earlier in her planning, Baci had revealed she would be using 250 bags of rice for the challenge.

Reacting to the trending video, @MukSaifullah wrote, “She don disqualify be that”.

@Bankzsup wrote, “If record no break, at least pot break”.

@khykheloormuur said, “Kaaaiii, after all that effort? Didn’t the engineers that made that pot put into consideration that 200bags of rice will weigh more than 10tonnes without the condiments added? Omoor, we are anyhow in this country”.

@NOJEEET wrote, “Won’t Guinness disqualify this @grok I hope they don’t”.
