According to Franc Utoo, a former principal special assistant to former governor Samuel Ortom, militants assaulted his Benue State hamlet of Yelwata in 2022. He claimed in an interview with Atlanta Discuss Channel that Staff Sergeant Kingsley, who was in charge of the local military detachment at the time, collaborated with young people to protect the neighborhood during the assault.

Thirteen terrorists were killed during the battle, according to Utoo. Surprisingly, he said, three of the thirteen attackers who were slain were identified as active army commanders. He claimed that after they were dead, their ID cards were discovered in their pockets. According to Utoo, the 72 Special Forces Battalion in Makurdi received the recovered ID cards.

In Utoo’s words: “When these guys came to attack our community, the guy joined together with our youths to repel the attackers. And on that day they killed 13 of these terrorists. And do you know out of these 13 of these terrorists, three of them were serving army officers with their ID cards in their pockets.
