The Chief Judge of the state has received and recognized official correspondence alleging grave misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, according to the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Hon. Dr. Enemi Alabo George, the Assembly’s spokesperson and chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions, and Complaints, made the confirmation in a statement.
The Assembly revealed that the correspondence included all pertinent documents, including the notices that included the accusations against the governor and his deputy.
According to Enemi, the notice has been recognized and received.
According to ZINGTIE, the breakthrough came after the lawmakers pledged to move on with the impeachment that was started last week during Friday’s plenary sessions.
According to the statement, the MPs took into consideration the necessity of moving forward with the impeachment in accordance with Section 188(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
They claim that the assembly is permitted by the constitution to look into claims of egregious misbehavior made against a serving governor and deputy governor.
