Samha Inuwa, a prominent actress in Kannywood, the Northern Nigerian film industry, has been taken into custody and is being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for purportedly abusing the Naira.
Operatives of the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate arrested Inuwa on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
The actress was arrested after a viral video circulated on social media showing her using Naira notes to wipe mucus from her nose.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the video prompted swift action from the Commission.
As stated by Oyewale, the EFCC operatives monitored the actress after the video became widely circulated and later apprehended her for interrogation regarding the purported currency mutilation.
He revealed that Inuwa is presently held at the Commission’s facility while investigations are ongoing.
Upon the investigation’s conclusion, Oyewale stated, the actress would face charges in court.
