Iyabo Ojo, a Nollywood actress, has expressed her willingness to collaborate with any political party in order to create a better future for Nigeria.

She made this statement after her controversial promotional video for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

In a video that FAAN recently posted on X, Iyabo was seen commending and endorsing what she called enhancements at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Along with the video, she wrote, “FAAN is changing for the better in so many ways. My country makes me proud.

The development elicited mixed reactions online because of her previously known political stance, with many reminding FAAN and the Federal government of how the actress had previously criticized the Tinubu administration and supported Peter Obi against him during the 2023 general election.

In response to the development, Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of FAAN, refuted online claims that Ojo had received any contract from the authorities or been appointed as their ambassador.

Amid the backlash, Iyabo Ojo spoke out, declaring herself unapologetic and clarifying that her intention in making the video was to promote her country.

Iyabo Ojo, while rejecting claims of receiving payment for the video, stated her willingness to collaborate with any political party to create a better future.

Iyabo Ojo wrote on her Instagram page; “I’m Nigerian. And I’m a voice. When I see progress, airports upgraded, roads rebuilt, systems improved etc, I shout it from the rooftops if need be, not because I am being paid, not because I am political, but because I feel it and I want good for my country. I will continue to use my craft, my voice, to promote Nigeria, and I am unapologetic about it.

“FAAN approached me that you have seen the changes. Please help us spread the word. So I did it for free. No contract. Just love for Nigeria. If Nigeria must rise we ALL must build it. Silence helps no one. I will work with any political party as long as it is building a better tomorrow for our dear nation. No agenda. Just hands joined. Let’s stop dividing”, she said.

This occurred during the ongoing process of appointing numerous celebrities and influencers by Seyi Tinubu, president Tinubu’s son, to head support groups for his father’s re-election.

A few months after her private meeting with Seyi Tinubu in Lagos State, Iyabo, a known supporter of Peter Obi, shared the promotional video.
