After a Facebook story described how a man purportedly fled and abandoned his wife when a robbery they both were involved in went awry, it ignited intense online reactions.

The post states that the couple was apprehended by a group of local men—commonly known as area boys—after their stealing attempt went awry.

Upon the husband’s realization that they had been apprehended, he allegedly fled the scene, abandoning his wife to confront the crowd by herself.

According to the post, the enraged group subsequently directed their anger at the woman. She suffered beatings, and as per the account, the mob tried to set her on fire using a tire.

The men allegedly insisted that she contact her husband so they could locate him. Although she called multiple times, the man did not answer.

The audience also requested the address of their residence. The woman did not want to provide it. She informed them that she was unaware of his residence and that they did not live together. It is said that this rejection exacerbated the situation, and the mob threatened to burn her alive.

Later, security agencies arrived at the location and managed to save the woman. She is currently in their custody, and it has been reported that a crime investigation has started.

At the time of this report, the precise location of the incident and the identities of the couple have yet to be verified. The tale first emerged on social media and has been extensively shared since then, attracting numerous comments regarding the husband’s actions and the woman’s treatment.
