The Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, has declared that it will resist personal ambitions, strengthen internal democracy and place national service above individual interests ahead of the 2027 elections.

National leader of the party, Seriake Dickson, made the statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

He stated that the NDC would not be transformed into a special-purpose platform designed to advance the presidential ambition of any particular politician.

Dickson spoke against the backdrop of growing political discussions surrounding Peter Obi and the anticipated involvement of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The former Bayelsa State governor stressed that the party was being developed as a long-term political institution rooted in ideology, reforms and national interest rather than individual political ambitions.

“We are not building a special-purpose vehicle for any individual. We are building together a political party that will stand the test of time. We will resist any personal ambition,” Dickson declared.
