Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has explained why he believes his side possesses greater motivation than Arsenal ahead of the UEFA Champions League final.
According to the Spanish tactician, PSG are driven by the desire to successfully defend their European crown, a feat achieved by very few clubs in the competition’s history.
Enrique’s team could become only the second club in the modern Champions League era to retain the trophy if they defeat Arsenal in Saturday’s final in Budapest.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, the former Barcelona coach reacted to suggestions that Arsenal’s hunger to win their first Champions League title could give them extra motivation.
“Yes, that is powerful, but you know how powerful trying to win the second one in a row is?
“It’s bigger. So we are ahead,” the former Barcelona coach added.
PSG booked their place in the final after overcoming Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, while Arsenal secured their spot by defeating Atletico Madrid.
