A feared bandit commander identified as Kachalla Maha has reportedly claimed that he possesses the capability to abduct high-ranking public officials, including state governors.
The notorious gang leader also alleged that he has access to sensitive security intelligence, asserting that he often receives information about planned military operations before they are carried out.
The claims were contained in an audio recording that surfaced online on Sunday and was circulated by verified X user, Abdool Moh.
In the recording, Maha accused government authorities of refusing to free some of his detained associates and return livestock allegedly confiscated from his group.
The bandit leader maintained that the actions of the authorities had contributed to the escalation of violence in communities affected by banditry activities.
He alleged that several attempts to negotiate the release of his men had failed, claiming that officials ignored repeated appeals.
“You arrested my men, and I asked for their release. You refused. I promised that I would abduct many people, and I already have targets.
“I asked why my men and Aminu were arrested. Since they were not released, I don’t care if they send thousands of soldiers. I am not tired, and I will not stop until I leave this world. I can kidnap top government officials, even a state governor.
“I swear to Almighty God that all the security forces sent to attack my camp are my boys. They inform me whenever they are coming. I receive information about security strategies, including those involving the President. It is only because I allow them to operate. Otherwise, they would not even be able to use the roads,” he said.
According to him, the government’s stance has left him unwilling to retreat from his activities, insisting that he remains determined despite the ongoing security operations against his group.
The audio message has since generated concern among residents and security observers, especially amid persistent attacks and kidnappings in parts of northern Nigeria.
Authorities are yet to officially respond to the claims contained in the recording.
