Davido has taken a swipe at music promoter and Iyabo Ojo’s partner, Paulo Okoye, following his recent comments about Afrobeat.

Paulo had expressed concerns over the fees charged by some of Nigeria’s leading Afrobeat artistes and questioned whether the genre is “dead or in coma.”

Reacting to his comments, Nigerian Grammy-nominated singer and music executive, Bankulli, criticised Paulo’s position and described his remarks as misguided.

Bankulli also alleged that Paulo made the comments because he could not afford to engage some of the country’s biggest artistes.

Davido appeared to back Bankulli’s position, taking to the comments section to describe Paulo as “broke.”

Davido wrote; “PAUL O AKA PAUL BROKE.”

The latest exchange comes almost two years after Paulo publicly came to Davido’s defence following criticism of the singer’s “Nigeria economy is in shambles” comment on The Big Homies House podcast.

Iyabo Ojo publicly confirmed her relationship with Paulo, a billionaire businessman and music promoter, during her 45th birthday celebration in December 2022.
