Burna Boy made history at the 66th Grammy Awards by becoming the first Nigerian and Afrobeats artist to play live on the main stage, even though he was not selected for any of the four categories.

The “African Giant” crooner thrilled an enthusiastic crowd at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles with a combination of songs from his most recent album, “I Told Them.”

Later, rapper 21 Savage and legendary singer Brandy joined him on stage.

ZINGTIE remembers that Burna Boy got his first and only Grammy in 2021 and had previously performed at the Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony.

However, he has never performed at the main event before.

Before the performance, Burna Boy lost to “Pashto,” a song by Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain, for Best Global Music Performance; to “This Moment,” a song by Shakti, for Best Global Music Album; to Lil Durk for “All My Life,” a song by Melodic Rap; and to Tyla for “Water,” a song from Africa.

Out of 10 Grammy nominations, Burna Boy has only won once thus far.
