Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi will wear the captain’s armband for the Super Eagles in tonight’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday two encounter against Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus.

According to SCORENigeria, regular captain Wilfred Ndidi will begin the fixture on the substitute bench.

Iwobi is set to lead a reshuffled midfield as the Super Eagles seek to follow up their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their opening qualifying match last Friday.

The 30-year-old is currently Nigeria’s most-capped active player, having made his 102nd appearance for the three-time African champions against Madagascar.

Iwobi has now joined Nigeria’s 100-cap club, alongside Moses Simon, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Ahmed Musa.

The match, billed for the September 24 Stadium in Bissau, is scheduled to kick off at 5:00pm Nigerian time.
