AFCON: It’s open – Jay-Jay Okocha predicts team to win trophy

Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, a former captain of Nigeria, has supported the Super Eagles in defeating South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final so they can take home the championship.

In an interview with Arise News before Nigeria’s match against South Africa on Wednesday, Okocha stated that the match is open for the final four.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player counselled Jose Peseiro’s team to focus on winning one match at a time to fulfil their goal of winning the 2022 AFCON.

“It is open, but of course, as a hardcore Nigerian fan, I expect our team to grab the opportunity and make it to the final and give themselves the chance to win it,” Okocha said.

“It’s one step at a time, we have South Africa to play next. We just have to earn the right to win a football match. It doesn’t matter how now, we just have to win.”

Okocha was present for the Super Eagles’ 2023 AFCON matches.

The former standout player for Bolton Wanderers has been driving the Super Eagles players to success.
