Anambra: Catholic priest allegedly flogs widow for asking for salary increment

Rev. Fr. Jude Muokwe, a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Anambra State, is accused of beating up Mrs. Ikeorah Maureen, a 50-year-old widow.

The widow was reportedly flogged brutally and had numerous injuries as a result of the priest’s use of a whip.

The widow’s video, which is now going viral on social media, showed the elementary school teacher sobbing uncontrollably and exhibiting the physical harm the priest had caused her.

According to reports, the widow is a member of the Ifitedunu community in Dunukofia LGA and teaches at Angel Primary School in Ifitedunu, which is allegedly run and controlled by the Catholic mission.

Although the true cause of the incident has not been determined, ZINGTIE learned that the priest entered the classroom and brutally flogged the widow, much to everyone’s surprise, while she and a few other school employees were discussing a pay raise that they intended to present to the administration.

The priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Muokwe, did not refute the accusation when ZINGTIE contacted him to find out the truth. All he said was that he didn’t want to comment.

“I cannot speak to you, I can’t speak especially to someone I do not know about this matter,” the priest said in a sober tone.
