Nigeria is experiencing a statewide blackout due to another national grid meltdown.

In a statement published on its X account, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, or AEDC, stated that the power outage occurring in its franchise regions on Sunday at 11:21 a.m. was caused by a system breakdown from the national grid.

“The Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) wishes to inform its valued customers that the power outage being experienced is a result of a system failure from the national grid at 11:21 hours today, 4th February 2024, which has led to a nationwide power outage. “

“Be rest assured that we are working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilized,” the statement said.

This came after the country’s electricity supply fell in several areas due to gas supply restrictions for electricity-producing enterprises.

At least three national blackouts affected Nigerians in 2023 on September 14, 19, and December 11.

ZINGTIE reminds readers that less than two days ago, Nigerians were urged by Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu to exercise patience with their government over the difficulties confronting the nation’s electricity sector.
