Donald Trump’s attempt to have his conviction in his New York criminal hush money case overturned has been denied by a New York judge.

According to Fox News, Judge Juan Merchan denied Trump’s motion to overturn the case’s verdict on the grounds of the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity.

Merchan declared that he would not imprison Trump.

Trump can choose to attend in person or electronically for his sentencing on January 10.

Additionally, Merchan rejected Trump’s lawyers’ attempt to have the charges dropped on the grounds of presidential immunity last month.

The trial resulted from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s investigation into purported hush money payments.

Trump has entered a not guilty plea to 34 counts of first-degree business record falsification.

In his ruling, Merchan stated that he would probably issue a sentence of “unconditional discharge,” meaning no penalty would be meted out, rather than “imposing any sentence of incarceration.”

According to ZINGTIE, on January 20, Trump will take the oath of office as the 47th President of the United States.

Merchan stated that he is still looking into Trump’s other motions to have the lawsuit dismissed.

Additionally, he turned down the DA’s recommendation that he maintain the verdict but terminate the case since it would deprive Trump of the opportunity to appeal.

But according to Trump spokesperson and new White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, there shouldn’t be any punishment and Trump will keep combating falsehoods until they are all dead.

“Today’s order by the deeply conflicted, Acting Justice Merchan in the Manhattan DA Witch Hunt is a direct violation of the Supreme Court’s Immunity decision and other longstanding jurisprudence.

“This lawless case should have never been brought and the Constitution demands that it be immediately dismissed. President Trump must be allowed to continue the Presidential Transition process and to execute the vital duties of the presidency, unobstructed by the remains of this or any remnants of the Witch Hunts,” he said.
