Edo by-election: PDP agents absent in several polling units

During Saturday’s by-election in Edo State’s Ovia North East Local Government, poll workers from the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, were noticeably missing from a number of voting stations.

It was learned that only representatives of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were present to oversee the process at polling places in Oluku Primary School, Owina Primary School, and Eronseyi Primary School, among others.

In response, Mr. Tony Azeigbemi, the chairman of the state PDP Caretaker Committee, denied the reports, stating that the party had sent out agents for the poll.

However, he also emphasized that the performance of the party will not be impacted by the absence of agents.

“We have polling agents for the election. After all, Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023, didn’t have agents in most of the polling units, yet he won in those units,” Azeigbemi said.
