OPay’s Managing Director, Dauda Gotring, described the scholarship as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future. “This ₦1.2 billion 10-year scholarship programme is not only about supporting today’s students but about investing in Nigeria’s future,” he said. “We are committed to nurturing the brilliant minds who will shape the nation’s progress for years to come.

The partnership was formalized during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at UNILORIN. UNILORIN’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, lauded the initiative as timely and impactful. “We would like to express our gratitude to OPay for their remarkable scholarship initiative to support our students here at UNILORIN,” Egbewole said. “This initiative shows that OPay is aligning with the education agenda of the federation.”

The scholarship initiative reflects OPay’s evolving role beyond digital finance, positioning itself as a catalyst for educational empowerment and youth development. OPay remains committed to building a brighter, more inclusive future, one student at a time
