Former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has disclosed that Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, regretted spending a significant amount of their transfer money on Kai Havertz while he was at the club.

Agbonlahor asserts that Havertz was not the solution for the Gunners and feels that Arteta’s choice will hurt Arsenal in the Premier League title fight.

The former England player claimed that Arsenal could have bought a striker like Brentford’s Ivan Toney with the money they paid to sign the Germany international.

Remember that Havertz cost £65 million when Arsenal bought him from Chelsea in the summer of 2023?

The 24-year-old’s season has been lackluster thus far, with just five goals and one assist in 30 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League North London team.

Agbonlahor said to talkSPORT, “I think the biggest thing Arsenal fans are annoyed with and what Arteta will regret is spending a lot of his transfer budget on Havertz.”
