The Federal Capital Territory’s lawmakers have been urged by the Arewa Youth Assembly, AYA, to provide Nyesom Wike, the minister of the FCT, the time he needs to carry out his duties as the head of the FCT Administration.
The group made their statement in response to a recent statement made by Federal Capital Territory senator Ireti Kingibe, who charged that the former governor of Rivers State was acting with a “I don’t care attitude” about the safety of the nation’s capital.
The group claimed that for the betterment of the people living in the Federal Capital Territory, all hands must be on deck rather than politically motivated utterances, defamation, witch hunts, or image tarnishing.
According to the organization, Wike has demonstrated certain traits of a dedicated servant in infrastructure growth and security.
Its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, signed a statement that said
The Arewa Youth Assembly urged all legislators, regardless of party affiliation, to cooperate in guaranteeing the safety of every resident’s life and property.
The group recalled that Wike had recently expressed that significant progress can only be accomplished withoutpresencety.
It warns lawmakers not to “use cheap tricks of playing politics with the precious lives of FCT residents and, causing nuisance.”
AYA urged residents to “remain calm, comply with security agents in carrying out their jobs, and report anything suspicious, as security is the responsibility of us all.”
