Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has forwarded the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF, to the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The Speaker of the House, Martin Chike Amaewhule, announced the submission after reading a correspondence from Governor Fubara during an emergency plenary session held on Thursday morning.

The meeting represented the first sitting of the Assembly in over three months, with lawmakers reconvening after their previous session, which focused on the screening of commissioner nominees submitted by the governor.

Before that meeting, the lawmakers had last assembled on January 8, when impeachment proceedings were initiated against Governor Fubara before the House adjourned.

The Assembly had earlier scheduled January 15 as its resumption date but failed to reconvene as planned.

During Thursday’s sitting, the governor’s letter conveying the three-year fiscal framework was formally presented to members of the House.

However, lawmakers postponed deliberations on the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework to a later date.

The Assembly is expected to consider the fiscal document during a subsequent sitting.
