Fresh Twist Emerges As ADC Suddenly Halts Presidential Primary Process

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has suspended the collation of results from its presidential primary election conducted across the country on Monday.

Announcing the postponement late Tuesday night, the Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Ikechi Emenike, said the decision was taken to allow Muslim party members observe the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Emenike explained that collation for the outstanding states would resume on Wednesday by 8 p.m.

According to him, some returning officers experienced flight-related challenges.

“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters celebrate Sallah participate in the religious activity and to enable returning officers who had flight challenges to arrive Abuja latter today,” Emenike stated.

Emenike further disclosed that returning officers from 24 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, had already announced their results before the postponement, while 12 states were still outstanding.

He listed the affected states as Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa and Kogi.

Others are Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Zamfara and the Federal Capital Territory.
