On social media, a young Nigerian man shared the tragic tale of how he helped his fiancée finish school before she left him after landing a job.

His heartfelt story states that he first met Cynthia while she was having financial difficulties during her second year of college. He took on the burden of providing for her needs, including food, rent, and even school fees, even though he only made a meager living from his tiny business.

He kept helping her after graduation until she got a job at a prestigious bank in Lagos, which should have solidified their relationship.

However, things took a drastic turn.

Cynthia apparently grew distant. Excuses became normal, visits ceased, and calls became infrequent. The real shock came when he discovered — through a mutual friend — that Cynthia had secretly done an introduction with her bank manager.

The man, who is now emotionally and financially spent, claims that the event has given him a lesson that he will carry with him forever:
