I walked in on my husband bathing our housemaid – What Happened After Will Haunt Me Forever

We had been married for eight years.
Blessed with two kids.
residing in a lovely duplex in Lekki in comfort.

I considered me fortunate.
I believed that my husband was ideal.

Until everything changed one night.

The Untrustworthy Shift
Little things were the first.
Tobi, my husband, said that I was working too much and requested that we employ a live-in housemaid.
I was apprehensive at first, but he was really convincing.

Blessing was hired by us.
She was only nineteen.
Quiet. Respectful.

At first, everything appeared to be OK.

Then I saw the way he gazed at her.
How shyly she smiled at him.
How his care for her well-being suddenly became “too concerned.”
He would give her money “for upkeep” and buy her gifts.

I made an effort to ignore my concerns.
I was telling myself, “It’s just kindness.”

“Tobi is not like that.”

The day my world fell apart
I unexpectedly returned home one afternoon.
I wasn’t feeling well, so I left work early.
It was strangely silent when I walked inside the house.

I felt compelled to head directly to the guest restroom.

There it was: Tobi bathing Blessing like a toddler while nude.

The soap.
The water.
The giggling between them.

I went cold.
Tears sprang out at once.
My hands trembled badly.

At first, they didn’t even notice me.
Too occupied in water play.

His face was pale when he finally noticed me.
He stumbled.
Blessing wrapped a towel around herself and dashed out.

The Repercussions
He made an effort to clarify.
Blessing had a “rash,” he stated, and he was helping her get rid of it.
It was innocent, he claimed.

Not guilty?
Bathing a teenage girl he wasn’t connected to as an adult?

A soothsayer wasn’t necessary for me.
When I saw betrayal, I recognized it.

The same evening, I ejected Blessing.
Two days later, I packed my kids and headed out.

He pleaded.
He sobbed.
He vowed that their relationship had never been strained.

But it was already too much, even if it was the first time.

Once trust is damaged, it cannot be completely restored.

Now, I’m alone, raising my kids, trying to heal.
But occasionally, when I close my eyes at night, I can’t get the restroom scene out of my head.
