Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has advised citizens to maintain composure while the State House of Assembly presses forward with attempts to remove him from office.
During a church service in Port Harcourt on Sunday to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the governor made the plea.
He assured the congregation that a solution would be found.
Governor Fubara stated that his faith in God is the foundation of his confidence and resilience, explaining that his quiet during the events was deliberate.
The governor said that “dogs bark when they do not understand” in reference to remarks he made at the Government House New Year’s banquet.
In her speech, the state’s deputy governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, who also spoke to the worshippers, urged people to act responsibly. This was in line with Archbishop Blessing Eyinda, the dean of the Anglican Communion, who had stressed in his sermon that every action would eventually be remembered.
She also urged the public to keep praying for the administration, seeing it as a crucial source of support.
