Insecurity: Gov Alia states how prepared they are to welcome Tinubu to Benue

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has confirmed his administration’s preparedness to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his scheduled visit to the state on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia referred to the President’s upcoming trip as a meaningful show of support for the people of Benue, particularly in light of the recent violent assault on the Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area, where many lives were lost in an attack believed to have been carried out by armed herdsmen.

The governor noted that the President’s visit reflects not only empathy for the affected communities but also a firm resolve to tackle the deepening security crises impacting farmers and rural areas throughout the state.

He said, “It depicts the President’s concern and readiness to take a bold step in the face of worsening insecurity threatening the peace, dignity, and existence of our farming communities.

“We are fully prepared to receive Mr. President. The visit represents not only a moment of national empathy, but a rare opportunity to directly interface with the Presidency on urgent security interventions needed to end the persistent killings and displacement of our people.

“If there is any state in the country that needs absolute peace, that state is Benue.

“This is because, as the ‘Food Basket of the Nation,’ Benue deserves peace, protection, and justice”.

“The visit represents not only a moment of national empathy, but a rare opportunity to directly interface with the Presidency on urgent security interventions needed to end the persistent killings and displacement of our people,” Alia said.
