Mr. Kenny Okolugbo, a former Delta State Commissioner and current Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to the President of the Senate, has submitted a formal complaint to the Inspector General of Police, requesting an immediate probe into what he terms a deliberate cyberattack and smear campaign designed to damage his reputation and mislead the public.

In the petition, Okolugbo stated that his verified X (formerly Twitter) account had been compromised and subsequently used to disseminate fabricated messages falsely attributed to him.

He further alleged that the falsified post was amplified by three prominent social media figures — Tunde Ednut (@mazitundeednut), Rufai Oseni (@ruffydfire), and Adeola Fayehun (@adeolafayehun). According to him, the trio exaggerated the content by adding entirely false claims involving phone cloning, voice alteration, and fabricated meetings in London.

“These allegations are not only untrue but impossible based on verified evidence,” he wrote.

“Most disturbing is that the fabricated post was simultaneously circulated and embellished by these influencers using identical language and coordinated timing, pointing to a syndicated disinformation campaign,” he added.

Okolugbo believes the campaign was launched to bolster unverified accusations previously made by Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan.

He argued that the additional false statements shared by these influencers did not originate from the original compromised post, which, in his view, proves the existence of a calculated effort to misrepresent him and cause reputational harm.

In his petition, he urged the Nigeria Police Force to take the following steps:

“A full-scale investigation into the hacking and impersonation of his verified social media account, citing violations under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015;

“Identification and prosecution of individuals responsible for the forgery, defamation, and spread of malicious content;

“Preservation of all relevant digital evidence from social media platforms and third-party service providers for forensic analysis.”

Highlighting both the personal impact and public relevance of the issue, Okolugbo appealed to the police to respond “swiftly and decisively.”

He also revealed that he submitted travel records confirming he had not left Nigeria in 2025, with his most recent visit to London dating back to November 5, 2024 — contradicting claims that he had held meetings there this year. Alongside this, he included printed copies of the posts in question to assist investigators.

As of the time this report was filed, the Nigeria Police Force had not made an official statement regarding the petition.
