Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) 2023 presidential candidate, has expressed disapproval of the Tinubu administration’s preference for Lagos State above other federation states.

Because of the enormous backing it receives from the national government, Kwankwaso accused Lagos of trying to control other parts of the country, especially Kano.

Lagos is allegedly interfering in Kano’s internal affairs, including the choice of its emir, according to Kwankwaso.

He made the assertions in an address on Sunday at Skyline University’s graduation ceremony in Kano.

“Today, we can see very clearly that there are significant efforts from the Lagos axis to colonise this part of the country. Lagos wouldn’t allow us to choose even our Emir; instead, they want to impose their own Emir on Kano,” he stated.

President Tinubu was Kwankwaso’s primary objective. He added: “Lagos today feel they only are Nigeria, interfering in other states’ affairs. We will not tolerate such actions here in Kano.”

Deeper worries about the purported regional imbalance in traditional institutions and governance, especially under President Bola Tinubu’s current administration, were echoed in Kwankwaso’s remarks.

With projects worth trillions of naira being awarded to Lagos State at the expense of other states, many people think that President Tinubu’s administration has given the state more attention.
