Mudiaga Ogbode, 36, is in hot water after his neighbor Mohammed saw him luring his daughter, 12, into his apartment so they could have sex.
According to ZINGTIE, Mohammed, the neighbor, broke into the room and apprehended the two of them. The suspect fled as the victim was being saved. However, he was already content at that point.
They live on Ivianago Street in Ojodu, Lagos, where the tragedy occurred on December 4, 2024.
The Ojodu Police station was notified of the situation. After pursuing the suspect, the police officers detained him and sent him to the State Command’s Gender Section for further examination.
Mohammed, the complainant, told the police that he found out that the aforementioned Ogbodu Mudiaga “m” had locked his daughter in his room and was having sex with her on April 12, 2024, at around 1740 hours.
As the criminal went to his heels since December 2024, he confronted his daughter as he burst into the room and pulled her outside. However, he returned home on April 18, 2025, prior to his imprisonment.
Following questioning, the police determined that he was guilty and brought charges against him in the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offense, which carries a maximum sentence of years in jail.
The charge read: “That you, Mudiaga Ogbode ‘m’, on the 4th day of December 2024, at about 1740hours, at Ivianago Street, Ojodu Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile one 12-year old girl by having sexual intercourse with her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
But because of the nature of the alleged offense, the prosecution, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, urged the court to set a date and submit the case to the DPP for legal guidance. As a result, the court rejected his plea.
The prosecutor was instructed to duplicate the file and forward it to the DPP for legal advice, and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered the defendant to be held in detention at the correctional center in Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the conclusion of the DPP’s recommendation.
In order to establish whether or not the action will be transferred to the High Court over jurisdiction, the matter was postponed until the DPP’s advice report was available.
