Messi set to buy Spanish football club
Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi, has reportedly reached an agreement in principle to take over Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense.
According to Marca, the Argentine star is set to acquire 100 per cent of the club’s shares.
CD Eldense currently compete in the Spanish Segunda Division.
Messi’s proposed takeover is expected to proceed without the involvement of any third party once the due diligence process is concluded.
The transaction is now awaiting formal approval from Spain’s Higher Sports Council, CSD, which is expected in the coming days.
The proposed acquisition further expands Messi’s growing business interests within Spanish football, ahead of his expected eventual return to reside in Catalonia.
