Jose Mourinho has claimed that he declined two opportunities to lead the Portugal national team as head coach.
He claims that the initial instance occurred while he was in control of Real Madrid.
At the time, Mourinho claimed that Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, had prevented his exit.
When Mourinho abandoned his country for the second time, he was the manager of Roma.
He told Fabrizio Romano: “I had the door open to be Portugal coach twice.
“First time when I was at Real Madrid but Florentino told me: no chance.
“The second time was at Roma, I was sacked a few months later. But I don’t regret that because I’m happy with the reason.”
