Rio Ferdinand, a legend of Manchester United, has explained why he believes Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo “have beef.”

Ronaldo spent six years at Old Trafford as Ferdinand’s teammate.

Before moving to Barcelona in 2007, Henry was an Arsenal player from 1999 to 2007.

However, Henry faced Ronaldo multiple times in the Premier League before departing.

Ferdinand discussed Henry’s and the legendary Brazilian football player Ronaldo de Lima’s thoughts towards Cristiano Ronaldo in a podcast.

On Brazilian Ronaldo, Ferdinand told Andreas Poke: “There’s beef there somewhere you know. It’s because of the name. I think because of the name, as if he says, ‘You took my name,’ so I have a problem with you.”

On Henry, Ferdinand added: “It’s the same with Thierry [Henry]. Thierry is the same. The way I see Thierry talk about Cristiano, it’s more what he doesn’t say. He doesn’t talk about him with any zest or spark.

“It’s like he’s downplaying Cristiano a lot. There was a clip at Highbury when Henry slaps him on the back of his head or something like that and Cristiano pushes him off.”
