Ere Dokubo, the technical consultant for the Mighty Jets, has attributed his team’s loss against FC Basira in the first game of the 2025–26 Nigeria National League, or NNL, season to early goals.

For Basira FC, Peter Eneji scored the third goal in the second half after Abubakar Yusuf scored two goals in the first.

Emmanuel Iliya’s own goal gave the Mighty Jets the game’s comfort.

Dokubo expressed his disappointment with the way the team lost on Saturday at the Lafia City Stadium.

“My hopes were shattered, We came with focus, hoping to take the maximum three points, but it didn’t work out. I’m disappointed, not just with the players, but with myself,” Dokubo reacted after the game.

“FC Basira’s goals were too quick and cheap. We were demoralized, and it affected our performance.

“They’re not better than Mighty Jets; they were just lucky to have won.”
