Before Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff match against Gabon, Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi was stunned by the state of the team’s hotel in Rabat, Morocco.

Iwobi posted pictures of the subpar conditions and surrounds of the Super Eagles’ lodging in Morocco in a video that went viral on social media.

Concerns regarding the wellbeing and level of preparation of the Nigerian national team ahead of Thursday’s match against Gabon have been raised by his post.

Remember how Nigeria secured their spot in the playoffs by placing second in Group C, behind South Africa?

The victor of the playoff semifinal match between the Super Eagles and Gabon will play either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the championship game.

A ticket to the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico will be up for grabs for the winner of the intercontinental playoffs, which are set for March 2026.
