National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Seriake Dickson, has said the outcome of the Osun State governorship election demonstrates that Nigerians still have the power to determine who leads them.

Dickson made the statement in a post shared on his verified X handle on Sunday while congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election.

The former governor described Adeleke’s victory as an important development not only for the governor and the people of Osun State but also for the country’s democratic system.

He said the outcome of the election carries a broader significance for Nigeria’s democracy and the ability of citizens to exercise their political choices.

According to Dickson, the result serves as a reminder that Nigerians can still use the ballot to express their democratic preferences despite the increasingly difficult political environment.

He maintained that the Osun election had demonstrated that the people retain the ability to assert their will through the electoral process.

“I warmly congratulate the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the Osun State governorship election.

“His victory shows that Nigerians can still decide who governs them. I commend the people of Osun State for standing firm in defence of their democratic choice.

“I also call on all those who contested the election and emerged on the losing side to join hands with the Governor in the spirit of sportsmanship and work for the peace and development of Osun State,” he tweeted.
