Nigerian actress and disc jockey Dorcas Shola Fapson, popularly called Ms. DSF, has expressed her views on people facing financial difficulties having children.
During a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, the actress said she disagreed with financially struggling individuals choosing to have children.
She argued that people without sufficient financial resources may find it difficult to provide proper care for their children because of their economic circumstances.
“Poor people shouldn’t have kids. I don’t think it is fair to the children. It is not fair to the family. It is not fair to you. I have a cousin that has five kids and she has been broke since she had the first one.
“Why do you have five? Every week, she is requesting for financial assistance for school fees, feeding. It is so unfair. Why have kids when you don’t have means to sustain them? It is not fair,” she said.
Ms. DSF disclosed that she grew up in a financially modest household but resolved not to raise children under similar circumstances.
She advised people planning to become parents to ensure they can afford to provide for their children before deciding to have them.
