Tanker carrying 60,000 litres of AGO loses control, somersaults in Ibadan

In Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, a tanker carrying 60,000 liters of Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, lost control and crashed.

According to information obtained by ZINGTIE, the event happened on Saturday along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway in Oremeji, Ibadan.

On Sunday, our correspondent learned that the tanker, registered KMC 692 ZE, swerved off the road and into a road divider after losing control while in motion.

On Sunday, Oyo State Fire Service Chairman Maroof Akinwande verified the occurrence.

The agency received a distress call on the event on Saturday, according to Akinwande’s statement.

He stated that the tanker was damaged but that no casualties were reported.

He said, “On Saturday 7th June ,2025, the agency’s control room center received a distressed call at exactly 12:30hrs. Immediately the address was taken, the fire Officers led by ACFS Adekola (Mrs) promptly deployed to the scene of the accident.

“On arrival, we met a falling HOWO trailer tanker loaded with registration number KMC 692 ZE (Kano) loaded with 60,000litres capacity of automotive gas oil (AGO) lost control whilst on motion, swerved off the road and somersaulted into a nearby road divider, content gushing out. We briskly carpeting the spillage with AFFF chemical foam compound to suppress the flammability of the liquid which can trigger fire from naked fire.

“The accident was due to reckless driving by the truck driver. No casualty was recorded but the tanker was damaged and fire service was able to save properties worth millions of naira.”
