Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has identified two nations he believes could emerge as surprise contenders at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during an appearance on Fox Sports, the French football icon highlighted Senegal and Norway as the teams he considers potential dark horses for the tournament.
Both Senegal and Norway have been drawn in Group I, where they will face France and Iraq.
“You have to think about Senegal and Norway, who are my two dark horses in this competition,” Henry said.
The former France international acknowledged that Iraq could face a difficult challenge in the group, given the quality of the other sides.
“It’s going to be tough for Iraq. I do think that the three teams [Norway, Senegal and France] will go forward, so I’m looking forward to that one, and there is another one.”
Henry, who enjoyed a distinguished international career, was part of the France squad that lifted the FIFA World Cup trophy on home soil in 1998.
His prediction has already generated discussions among football fans, with many eager to see whether Senegal and Norway can live up to the expectations of the former World Cup winner when the tournament gets underway.
