US firm reveals what it plans to do next over Tinubu’s alleged drug case

A United States-based political advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has disclosed what it described as its next step in relation to the alleged drug trafficking case involving Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu.

The firm made the disclosure in a post shared on its verified X account on Sunday.

According to Von Batten-Montague-York, its next briefing to the administration of United States President Donald Trump and members of Congress will focus on what it claims is an effort by senior Nigerian government officials to defend President Tinubu.

The lobbying firm also criticised the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, over his remarks concerning its campaign for the release of records relating to Tinubu’s alleged heroin-trafficking case.

Keyamo had reportedly described the firm’s efforts as a ‘storm in a teacup; a journey to nowhere.’

Reacting, Von Batten-Montague-York questioned why a senior Nigerian government official would respond to the activities of what it described as a small American lobbying firm.

“The world should then ask a simple question: Why then is a cabinet-level Nigerian Minister spending his time and effort rushing to respond to a small American lobbying firm?

“The Nigerian Presidency is acting like a narco-state, using the levers of the state to protect its alleged drug-dealing President, Bola Tinubu, whom the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, alleged was part of a criminal organisation that smuggled heroin from Nigeria into the United States during the 1980s and 1990s.

“We now see why the United States government views the Nigerian government as one of the most corrupt in the world. We are lobbyists and advocates. Our job is to build the case before the White House and Congress, increase U.S. public awareness, and keep members of Congress focused on the issue.

“President Tinubu and his enabling ministers are too incensed to realise that they walked into a trap. We believe the Nigerian government under President Tinubu is a narco state, and the US should ask: Why are South American drug traffickers flocking to Nigeria? Maybe the Minister of Aviation can help answer that question,” the firm tweeted.
