VIDEO: Man caught hiding overnight in FCMB toilet to hack bank system in Owerri

After allegedly spending the night in the bank’s restroom in an attempt to breach its computer systems, a guy was caught at a First City Monument Bank (FCMB) branch in Owerri, Imo State.

A widely shared video on social media claims that the suspect—whose identity has not yet been verified—entered the bank during business hours by pretending to be a frequent client.

After locking himself in the bathroom, the suspect reportedly scaled the ceiling and stayed there until the bank closed.

According to information provided by an X user going by the handle @BishopPOEvang, the suspect made an overnight attempt to breach the bank’s systems.

Staff found the restroom door locked from the inside the next morning.

They pried it open and discovered the man in the ceiling. According to reports, the system displayed the word “Restarting” when it was turned on. To accept, click OK.

After security personnel were dispatched, the suspect was violently pulled out and subjected to physical abuse; the footage has since gone viral and incited public indignation.

Many social media users denounced the use of force by security guards and police officers, while others questioned the bank’s security lapse.

The violent assault, which included stamping on the suspect’s head and chest, was deemed excessive and unprofessional by critics.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, responded to the video by calling the officers’ actions “unprofessional” and promising a full investigation.

“Unprofessional conduct. Too bad. Many indecent acts were spotted in the video. We will look into it holistically,” Adejobi posted on X.

FCMB has not yet released an official statement about the incident as of the time this article was filed.
