At least 46 suspected undocumented foreign nationals have been apprehended in Ogun State by personnel of the Nigerian Army working alongside officers of the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 35 Artillery Brigade, Lieutenant Samuel Akari, who disclosed that the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence.
According to him, the security exercise, which began on June 11, 2026, resulted in the arrest of the suspects in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and neighbouring communities during a coordinated security crackdown.
Initial findings indicated that the foreign nationals had allegedly lived within the state for about six months without possessing the required immigration documents.
During questioning, the suspects reportedly told investigators that they were traders and workers connected to QNet, a digital marketing platform engaged in the distribution and sale of different products.
The group of suspects consists of 18 citizens of Burkina Faso, 23 nationals of Côte d’Ivoire, four citizens of Togo, and one national of Senegal. Security officials disclosed that the arrested persons include 36 men and 10 women.
The statement further revealed that all the suspects have been transferred to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for additional investigation and necessary administrative procedures in line with existing immigration laws.
