Why Jide Kosoko Believes Nigerians Should Reconsider Their Views on Tinubu

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration, insisting that efforts are being made to tackle Nigeria’s challenges.

Kosoko made the remarks during an appearance on the Talk To B podcast, hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, where he urged Nigerians to reflect on the country’s condition before Tinubu assumed office.

The veteran actor argued that the situation was not as dire as some critics had portrayed it, suggesting that people should consider the circumstances that existed before the current administration took over.

“Things are not as bad as some people have claimed and they need to understand. Go and check the majority of those people. Before Tinubu came, what were they eating?” he said.

When the interviewer asked what tangible evidence ordinary Nigerians could identify to support the claim that Tinubu was fixing the country, Kosoko maintained that the President was addressing challenges inherited by his government.

He also cited the student loan scheme as one of the initiatives introduced by the administration.

The actor encouraged beneficiaries of the programme to share their experiences and explain how the scheme had helped them pursue their education.

He further stated that the government had pledged to assist graduates who were unable to secure employment immediately after completing their studies.

“Such initiatives deserved public attention,” he said.

Kosoko, who disclosed that he had been involved in politics since 1978, also argued that political ambitions sometimes prevented people from recognising what he viewed as positive developments under the current administration.

According to the actor, some opposition figures were aware of the government’s progress but allowed their political interests to shape their public positions.

“Those in the opposition know the truth. They know that the man is on the right track, but ambition is affecting their thinking,” Jide Kosoko said.
